Thursday evening the very first concert to be held in the new Savannah Band Shell in Forsyth Park was held. This amazing new venue is sure to be a major asset to all performance held outdoors in the park for years to come. The structure enhanced by colorful lighting and fountains made the concert a real pleasure to watch.
The performers were “Crooked Still”, a band that features bluegrass and Celtic music. The music was fabulous. I can’t wait for the Jazz Festival in September and Picnic in the Park in October. Concerts in the park have always been a favorite with locals and visitors alike. This new venue will only take the experience to a higher level.
During the day and when concerts have not taken the stage the fountains in front can be used as a wading pool. Next to the Band Shell there is also the new Forsyth Cafe and visitor’s center. Be sure to check it out. — Jackie Heinz, Zeigler House Inn.
